Ventura Star write-up on ThumbPrint

Kenny Miller, a Simi Valley resident since 1997, has been in the fast-print business serving small and medium sized businesses since he was a16-year-old high school student and working part-time for Kinko’s in Simi.
Over the years he worked for several Kinko’s operations in Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Sherman Oaks. He was quickly promoted to higher positions and became the one of the youngest managers of Kinko’s in Simi.
Today, at age 31, he owns and operates his own printing service firm in Simi named ThumbPrint, Inc. His three-employee operation, launched in 2001, is located in a 1,300-square-foot facility at 4545 Industrial Street in Simi. It’s a member of the Simi Valley and Moorpark Chamber of Commerce.
“Our company name came from a brainstorming session I had with several friends when planning the operation,” Miller said. “We are like a person’s thumbprint. Everyone has a unique print, as do the needs of our customers. And printing is our primary service.”
Last March, Miller acquired another Simi printing firm, Superior
Sign & Graphics, incorporating their equipment and clientele into his ThumbPrint operation. His firm provides a wide range of products for businesses, including trade show displays and printed materials, banners, vehicle lettering, vehicle wraps, fleet vehicle lettering, business cards, signs, stationery, brochures and mailing pieces.
One of Miller’s largest customers is Troop Real Estate, a firm he has served consistently for the past three years. He created a special Web site for this company that can be efficiently used to order new materials.
Business has been good and growing at ThumbPrint. Last year’s sales volume reached about $300,000.
“We make it as easy as possible for our customers to order supplies, and we provide quick turnaround service,” Miller said. “My plan for the future is to continue building our base of local customers by providing exceptionally high quality service. I want to keep the business small and local, because that’s the type of business we serve.”
Miller, and wife Lida, live in Simi Valley. For more information about ThumbPrint, visit their Web site at: www.thumbprintink.com, or phone 527-9491.
